MEET THE BAKER
Hi there! I'm Andrea Palcic, the owner and baker of Joy House Bakery. I'm a wife, mother, Christian lady, and a baker. In fact, I was quite literally born a Baker (it's my maiden name!). Maybe the worst marketing decision I ever made was taking my husband's last name...but I digress. Baking is in my blood. I grew up surrounded by cookies. In our small West Virginia town of mostly Italian families, everyone thought their family recipe reigned supreme. Weddings were less about what the bride was wearing and more about the size of the cookie table. That's right. We have cookie tables at our weddings. Mine rounded out at 300 dozen of the best family recipes from around town. These recipes were often perfected in the cellars of old Italian aunts and grandmothers. This is where my love of baking started, in the cellar of what we all referred to as "The House", the home that 3 of my aunts shared and that served as the home base for our family.

My love for baking goes beyond just having a sweet tooth. They say you've got to give joy to get joy. And not many things bring me greater joy than being able to brighten someone's day with a homemade treat. Joy. There's that word again. It seems to pop up all over for me. I have spent the better part of my adulthood clinging to the Joy that the Good Lord always seems to place right in front of me. It's only right to pass that joy to whomever I can.
Joy House Bakery was created in 2020 after years of procrastination and simultaneous hard work. I started my "career" decorating cakes in 2010, adding sugar cookies to my repertoire in 2014. Since then, I have practiced and trained in many new techniques and recipes. While I've grown immensely as a baker in the last few years, the purpose and drive has only increased as well. I truly hope that whatever you taste from my bakery brings some joy to your day. If it does, spread it on to someone else!
